Bitcoin wallet standard discussion held in Germany may be related to wallet standard setting

From April 1st to 2nd, a Bitcoin wallet standards discussion meeting was held in Berlin, Germany. A group of Bitcoin wallet company developers from different countries attended the gathering to discuss the formulation of Bitcoin wallet standards.

This was the first annual Bitcoin wallet standards development meeting. The meeting is expected to continue each year to create better wallet interoperability.

When building the Bitcoin wallets currently used by users, Bitcoin wallet developers generally refer to the current banking industry standards and usage environment. Many companies pay attention to the basic functions and security protection of Bitcoin wallets when developing Bitcoin wallets, just like the banking industry.

On April 1-2, some Bitcoin wallet companies from 15 different platforms jointly participated in the Bitcoin Electronic Wallet Standard Planning Meeting (S3ND) in Berlin, Germany. They hope to have a more accurate understanding of the Bitcoin wallet standards.

Members participating in S3ND include Bitcoin wallet companies such as Ledger, Trezor, Green Address, Armory, Electrum, Mycelium, etc., all of which are popular among users everywhere.

Also attending the meeting were some Bitcoin enthusiasts such as Lighting Network developer Olaoluwa Osuntokun (Roasbeef) and Bitcoin Core core developers Luke-jr, Jonas Schnelli and Matt Corallo.

The organizers of S3ND explained,

“Developing a common technical language and establishing best practices for wallet design will not affect the ability of individual brands to innovate or eliminate competition.

Bitcoin wallets must be interoperable and universal so that Bitcoin can circulate between different branded wallets. Users must be able to choose the wallet software and hardware they want to use and be free to move as they see fit.”

The S3ND meeting discussed topics such as digital currency transfers between Bitcoin wallets, Segregated Witness, Bitcoin Protocol (BIP) and other standards. In addition, attendees also focused on privacy standards such as in private transactions.

"As the S3ND conference organization matures, working groups will continue to independently develop standards, which will then be discussed and approved at the annual conference," S3ND organizers revealed the details to the media.

S3ND organizers said that although most of the current Bitcoin wallet companies are already members of the conference organization, they still hope that new Bitcoin wallet companies can join the big family. In the future, the organizers will list notices and summaries on the conference to facilitate everyone's participation.
