Bitcoin Unlimited receives full mining power support from ViaBTC mining pool

ViaBTC, one of the world’s leading Bitcoin mining pools, has successfully mined its first Unlimited block after its head confirmed that the entire mining pool’s hashrate had switched to the Bitcoin Unlimited client.

It is reported that after the representatives of the ViaBTC mining pool attended Roger Ver’s “Free Speech Party”, the mining pool announced that it would use 100% of the mining pool’s computing power to mine the Bitcoin Unlimited block.

The team has confirmed that the mining pool is running the Bitcoin Unlimited client on the Bitcoin main network. According to data from the blockchain browser Blocktrail, the height of the Unlimited block officially mined by ViaBTC is 433747 .

Back in September, the ViaBTC team said its mining pool was still running Bitcoin Core software, but they were also interested in upgrading to larger blocks to accommodate more clients.

Bitcoin.com + ViaBTC

Recently, another mining pool Bitcoin.com that supports Bitcoin Unlimited has also been launched, and its computing power has currently reached 1.5% of the entire network.

Slightly different from ViaBTC, the Bitcoin.com mining pool allows blocks of up to 16 MB in order to accommodate the growing user base and transactions on the Bitcoin network.

So far, the Bitcoin.com mining pool has mined 12 Unlimited blocks, and in the coming weeks, it plans to open up to the public.

It is reported that ViaBTC and Bitcoin.com are the two major mining pools supporting Bitcoin Unlimited. Since all the computing power of ViaBTC has been switched to Unlimited, more than 4.9% of the computing power of the entire network is now mining Bitcoin Unlimited blocks.

Support from ViaBTC and Bitcoin.com has also led to a significant increase in the number of Bitcoin Unlimited nodes, which has recently exceeded 240. Some observers predict that the number of Unlimited nodes will reach 300 by mid-October.

About 50P hashrate left ViaBTC mining pool

According to data from btc.com, three days ago, the computing power of the ViaBTC mining pool was about 186.93 PH/s, accounting for about 9.73% of the total network computing power. However, after it announced the switch to Unlimited, the computing power of the mining pool has slipped to 145.15 PH/s, currently ranking seventh in the entire network.

The news that ViaBTC mining pool supports Bitcoin Unlimited has sparked heated discussions among netizens on the Babbitt forum. Bitcoin enthusiast Shen Ye said:
