Andrew Lee says Bitcoin will become a mainstream cryptocurrency

Andrew Lee, CEO of Purse.io (Bitcoin e-commerce platform), said in an interview with the Bitcoin Podcast: Some people compare Bitcoin to other payment systems (such as PayPal) and think that they are similar, which is incorrect.

He said Bitcoin is infrastructure, and it is more advantageous than the Automated Clearing House (ACH), the electronic network that serves financial transactions in the United States. Although ACH is an old system, its status as core infrastructure will not change in recent years.

Lee added that Bitcoin is a fundamental change because it does not rely on any old system, which is not possible with digital payment systems if Bitcoin is processed using old systems.

“Bitcoin has a lot of capabilities that people haven’t even imagined yet. Very early on, people had a lot of use cases and different ideas about whether it was a smart protocol, and it only worked when the network reached a certain scale. People had to use Bitcoin to work, they had to use Bitcoin to transact. The more people used it, the stronger the network became. It actually opened the door for other people to use cases that wouldn’t have been possible with a small network.”

“What I found missing in the ecosystem were use cases. Use cases are proof of value that is better than existing solutions. Through these use cases, we have brought together like-minded people. We started the company with the vision of providing a reward mechanism for customers. Now, two years after the company was founded, we have close to $10 million in transaction volume using Bitcoin, which means that people have saved $2 million by trading with Bitcoin instead of shopping on Amazon.”

Lee sees Bitcoin as the mainstream currency of the future, and other altcoins are only used for experimental purposes.

“I see huge potential in Bitcoin and I tend to think that Bitcoin will become a mainstream currency. I may not be right, but this is what I see today.”
