The three most successful Bitcoin donation stories of 2015

Kenya Water Access Project ( BitGive )

Perhaps the biggest bright spot for the Bitcoin community in 2015 was BitGive .

In 2015 , BitGive supported charity projects in Kenya, Nepal, and Mexico. The biggest highlight was that BitGive donated $ 11,000 worth of Bitcoin to the water project of Shisango Girls' School in Kenya .

The school is located in a remote area in western Kenya, and the water project was built by BitGive and its partners. The water improvement project has benefited more than 500 people in the school and surrounding communities, allowing them to drink clean and safe water.

BitGive plans to create a secure and transparent charity donation platform in 2016. The first 2.0 charity program projects are aimed at improving charity. The platform will allow donors to know where the funds are going and for what purpose.

The Bitcoin community benefits from these success stories.

Afghanistan Education Project ( CTI )

Another of the biggest success stories of Bitcoin charitable giving is the creation of a first-of-its-kind coding school for girls in Afghanistan.

The project was founded by Fereshteh Forough in 2014. Code Incentives ( CTI ) created a safe coding lab for Afghanistan, primarily for Afghan girls, where they can learn coding skills in an educational environment.

The project has received support from individuals and businesses in the community. Overstock, a well-known American online retailer , provided sufficient laptop equipment for the project. Considering that most women in Afghanistan cannot enjoy the right to education and will not receive local financial support, the Bitcoin community is the main supporter of CTI .

Some highlights this year include CTI's participation in the Clinton Global Initiative Conference and starting the HTML and CSS course.

CTI looks forward to creating even more brilliant achievements together with the Bitcoin community in 2016 .

Online donation project ( ChangeTip )

ChangeTip has made outstanding contributions to online donations for global charities and public welfare this year. On the " Donate " page on the company's website, users can donate directly to cooperating charity projects. There are more than 20 charity project partners , including Antiwar , BitGive , CTI , he Red Cross , Direct Relief and Sean's Outpost .

There are two highlights in ChangeTip's philanthropy this year :

First, there are charitable donations to the earthquake-stricken areas in Nepal. Bitcoin community members frequently donate through the American Red Cross or Direct Relief on Twitter , Reddit , and Meerkat . It is particularly exciting that the Meerkat community's donation options include Bitcoin. The community mainly raises funds for charities through charity performances, mainly including dance, cooking, and piano performances.

Secondly, it is to directly support the prenatal vitamin campaign for pregnant women through Bitcoin. The organization's activities accept Bitcoin and fiat currency donations. It allows pregnant women in Sierra Leone and Liberia to get adequate nutrition and ensure a safe pregnancy. The Direct Relief team is seeking continued donations from the Bitcoin community.

Finally, to close out 2015 , ChangeTip hosted a six- day donation drive ( December 26th to December 31st ) to fund a homeless shelter in Philadelphia .
