The Bitcoin Industry’s Version of ISO – The Cryptocurrency Certification Association

We are in the era of digital currency. In the past few years, the startup ecosystem has experienced a Bitcoin boom, with more and more startups focusing on Bitcoin and blockchain-related technologies. The advantages of blockchain technology are now widely recognized, especially in the banking and financial sectors.

The growing interest in cryptocurrency technology and its implementation in various critical operations has made it imperative to ensure that the quality of software standards in terms of usability and security is appropriate to meet the requirements of the organization or institution implementing it. This situation has given rise to the need for software review, audit and certification.

The Cryptocurrency Certification Association is one such organization that is starting to establish standards for the cryptocurrency industry. The non-profit entity within the Bitcoin industry is focusing on developing industry metrics that can measure cryptocurrency-based applications and platforms in various aspects, including ease of use, privacy, security, and decentralization. The organization's board of directors includes Andreas M Antonopoulos, Vitalik Buterin, Joshua McDougall, Pamela Morgan, and Michael Perklin. The organization's website also lists executives and developers from different Bitcoin companies as advisors.

The Cryptocurrency Certification Association offers certification programs for those interested in the Bitcoin space. These certifications will help newcomers and those involved in Bitcoin understand the history, various aspects of Bitcoin technology, Bitcoin-based products and their uses, security features, and best practices.

The Cryptocurrency Certification Association currently offers two certification programs - Certified Bitcoin Professional (CBP) and Certified Bitcoin Expert (CBX). These certification tests will include a series of questions that require a deep understanding of Bitcoin and blockchain to answer. Those who pass the test will be certified as Bitcoin Professionals by the organization. CBP is suitable for anyone entering the Bitcoin field, but CBX is tailored for those who are directly involved in developing and testing digital currency environments. The CBX program will soon be open to those involved in development, security, auditing, and digital forensics.

The association also established a draft security framework to set security standards in cryptocurrency systems around the world. The Cryptocurrency Certification Association seems ready to take on a similar role to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) in the Bitcoin industry.
