European Bitcoin Exchange Yacuna Announces Closure

European cryptocurrency exchange Yacuna has announced that it will shut down next month.

The company announced the news to customers via email this afternoon, asking them to withdraw any remaining funds by November 15 .

The email from [email protected] reads:

“ Bitcoin is a fantastic technology and we are very proud to have developed Europe’s first cryptocurrency exchange. But now it’s all over. ”

The company said it would manually batch and process customer withdrawals, adding: " This process may take some time to complete, so please understand. "

About Yacuna Exchange

The UK-based exchange was founded by Andrei Martchouk , a veteran of ClickandBuy (an online payment service provider) , and offers Bitcoin, Litecoin, Radicalcoin and Dogecoin trading to users in Europe.

It had waived all transaction and withdrawal fees in February in a move intended to boost the ecosystem.

" In the current environment, we don't want to be dependent on our customers, " Martchouk said at the time.

While the company’s social media presence has been quiet of late, its email hints that the team may be moving on to other projects in the Bitcoin space:
