Barclays Bank announces that charities can accept digital currency donations

Barclays, the second-largest bank in the United Kingdom, has announced that it will allow charities to accept digital currency donations, further demonstrating its intention to support Bitcoin as a payment method.

In a new article published in The Sunday Times, Barclays said it has partnered with an unnamed bitcoin trading or spending platform that could launch in 2016.

德里克•怀特, Barclays' chief design and digital officer, confirmed some details of the collaboration to the media.

White said:

“Barclays has partnered with the bitcoin exchange to help charities accept bitcoin donations.”

Earlier, Barclays Bank had already stated that they were exploring Bitcoin's blockchain technology. In June this year, Barclays Bank reached an agreement with Bitcoin exchange Safello to explore how blockchain technology can enhance the financial services industry.
